I got to thinking today about the ways in which we get the messages we need. As if on cue, they seemingly fall into our laps sometimes from the most unexpected places. I also have been reminded of the importance of keeping an open mind so that our own judgements don’t get in the way of us receiving the insights we are supposed to when these messages appear.
Allow me to give you an example from my own life which has caused me to “come down a notch or two”. I must confess that I have become somewhat lofty over the years as I continue along my spiritual journey, very often believing that it is only through the teachings of the great masters of the universe that I can reach an exalted state of enlightenment. I’ve now changed that point of view and it is in part because a beautiful young friend that has come into my life.
Rosemary recently moved into our neighborhood with her husband and young child. She doesn’t speak English well because she and her husband are Romanian. They are both in their twenties and together with their gorgeous two year old, they have brought so much joy to my own family. Since we became friends, I have spent many afternoons in the company of Rose, having coffee, playing with her son and chatting about everything imaginable.
Rose has truly surprised me with her debt of character and her confidence in the unseen power which makes everything possible. She has shared books with me she has read, told me about her experiences where she manifested everything from love, to a baby to a car. She has encouraged me to believe in myself and to go after my dreams and she has helped me understand my own reactions to people and situations. More than anything, it is Rose’s enthusiasm and relentless belief in “anything is possible” which has lighted a fire under to me to after my dreams.
A lot of what Rose and I talk about I have heard before but as you know, very often in life we need to be reminded of what is important. While sitting by myself having coffee a few days ago, I thought in detail about what made Rose so special since she is truly wise beyond her years. Then I had one of those “a-ha” moments. You see at one point in my life, when I was her age, I was just like her! I was in my twenties and I believed that anything was possible. I was flying high on my own “power of positive thinking”, nothing and no one could convince me that I could not achieve anything my heart desired.
So what happened I asked myself? Well I believe that life got in the way, as it does for so many of us. We get older, we get discouraged and our dreams die. We don’t have the passion for life that we had when we were younger. Not without reason of course since life can be challenging. I know there are many of you reading this post who are dealing with a myriad of issues. This is what drains us but I have a suggestion. How about trying to reconnect with that part of you that was undaunted and fiercely loyal to our dreams?
I have decided that I want to be and feel like Rose does and to once again have that unwavering confidence that moves mountains. There was a time when I was manifesting almost anything I set my heart on and if I did it then I can do it now. So how do we reconnect with that part of ourselves?
I want to raise my own vibration to another level so I am reminding myself of what I know I can achieve. I’ve started looking at old photographs of journalism awards I received more than two decades ago. I’ve been listening to music from the 80’s, thinking about motivational books that I read then. Some of them like The Power of Positive Thinking by Norman Vincent Peale, Awaken the Giant Within by Tony Robbins and How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie truly made a difference.
I’ve also been spending a lot of time just thinking, meditating, praying and reminding myself that situations change but we inherently remain the same internally. If that’s the case then the twenty something year old Ann Marie is still there. Do you think it’s still inside of you? Of course it is! After all, as Dr. Wayne Dyer used to say, “we are not a physical body having a spiritual experience but a spiritual being have a physical experience.”
I would like to thank my friend Rose for reminding me of my greatness as a human being and as an energetic source that comes from and is a part of God. I hope that I can help you as well rediscover the passion, desire and clarity that will help you achieve your goals. Remember, “when the teacher is ready the student will appear” so be open to the messages from the universe and when they come embrace them, knowing that if you believe it, you can achieve it.
